PG - Mature Subject Matter.
LOVERS OF HATE is a tragi-comic tale of deceit, jealously, good old sibling rivalry and a twisted love triangle between brothers Rudy (Chris Doube, also in THE HAPPY POET) and Paul (Alex Karpovsky).
Paul is a successful children’s fantasy author living in a resort town. Rudy has always been an inspiration and collaborator in his brother’s writing, but his attempt to be a writer himself has been unsuccessful. With his marriage falling apart, Rudy doesn’t realize that he and his brother’s only other common interest is Rudy’s soon-to-be ex-wife, Diana (Heather Kafka). Paul has made plans to take Diana on a secret romantic weekend getaway, not realizing Rudy has shown up to surprise him at the same house. What ensues is an extremely well executed tale of cat-and-mouse where you are never quite sure who will be in the lead.
Under the direction of Bryan Poyser (DEAR PILLOW) LOVERS OF HATE uses its clever script and strong performances to strike a delicate balance between humor and despair.
