SOME DAYS ARE BETTER THAN OTHERS, the quiet, low-budget, character-driven debut feature by Matt McCormick, poetically raises an important question: Why do the good times slip by so fast while the hard times always seem so sticky?

The films follow four intertwining stories, all exploring human connection, emptiness, love and loss. A twentysomething girl suffers a broken heart and uses homemade reality TV show audition tapes to help overcome her sadness. Her roommate works odd jobs with no sense of commitment. In search of fulfillment and his place in life, a store clerk seeks to return a lost urn, and an elderly inventor, filmmaker and eccentric desperately craves recognition for his work.

Produced by Neil Kopp (WENDY AND LUCY) and David Cress (PARANOID PARK), and with some of Portland’s finest musicians and artists as collaborators, SOME DAYS ARE BETTER THAN OTHERS features Carrie Brownstein (Sleater-Kinney) and James Mercer (The Shins) in the two lead roles.
