You’re never too old for bromance. That’s the thesis of Taylor Guterson’s OLD GOATS, a breezily naturalistic comedy about three retirees struggling to keep their lives interesting in the Pacific Northwest. A cast of aged non-actors play semi-fictionalized versions of themselves, each still trying to find adventure in his own way – at least during the breaks between bouts of the hilarious bullshitting and verbal sniping that all old men are experts in.
Bob is a retired bush pilot and former Lothario who, when he sits down to write his memoirs, realizes he might have been a bit of an asshole as a younger man. Bob likes to egg on his friend Britt when he talks about the sailing trip to Hawaii he plans to take – but always backs out of at the last minute. And Dave, a retired business executive, is just along for the ride, enjoying the company of the two best friends he didn’t meet until well into his twilight years.
