OUR PEOPLE WILL BE HEALED celebrates the successes of Manitoba's Norway House Cree community as they turn back tragedy and reclaim their culture.

Unlike many stories surrounding First Nations communities, OUR PEOPLE WILL BE HEALED is one of hope, seeking out and celebrating the good taking place in northern Manitoba’s Norway House. Centred on the community’s school, the wilderness surrounding it, a two-week canoe trip and plenty of fiddle music, this documentary introduces us to teachers, mentors, students and elders and their love for the community and the Cree culture.

OUR PEOPLE WILL BE HEALED is a National Film Board production, which will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival just weeks before arriving in Calgary. Director Alanis Obomsawin, who attended the 2016 Calgary International Film Festival with her documentary WE CAN'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE TWICE, is a celebrated figure in Canadian filmmaking. Over her 45-year career, she has created 50 documentaries and has received many accolades. This film is the latest chapter in her lifelong pursuit to tell the stories of her own First Nations people.
