The Armstrong Lie will show on Wednesday, February 5, at 7 p.m. at Cineplex Eau Claire.

Five years ago, director Alex Gibney set out to make a documentary about the miraculous, superhuman comeback of Lance Armstrong. But by the time the film was complete in 2013, Armstrong had admitted to using performance-enhancing drugs in the shadow of federal criminal investigations by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency and the International Cycling Union.

Instead of a behind-the-scenes look at a miraculous human, The Armstrong Lie chronicles the rewriting of history surrounding one iconic man—and gives us a glimpse into unprecedented scandal. During the filming of the movie, Gibney found himself with one-of-a-kind access and an insider’s look at what happens when one of the world’s top athletes falls from grace.

In Armstrong’s own words: “I didn’t live a lot of lies, but I lived one big one.”
