Calgary, AB—The Calgary International Film Festival screened the top short films for a packed house at the Globe Cinema on Saturday night. Two awards were given for the top short films in the festival. BEAR STORY (HISTORIA DE UN OSO), directed by Gabriel Osorio received the Best Overall Short Film Award and MS. LILIANE, directed by Junna Chif won the Special Jury Prize.

The competition was fierce, given the number of short film submissions in the festival.

“We considered close to 1,000 shorts this year,” said Karilynn Thompson, Senior Shorts Programmer for the Calgary International Film Festival. “Through hard work the programming team narrowed it down to around 75 films for the jury to consider. The jury selected the top 10 of which seven were screened for the audience tonight.”
