Canada's Top Ten Film Festival Lineup Announced

For the second consecutive year the Calgary International Film Festival, Globe Cinema and the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) are partnering to bring Canada's Top Ten Film Festival to Calgary. The four-day festival runs February 4-7, 2016 at Globe Cinema.

"The Calgary International Film Festival is a strong champion of Canadian Cinema", said CIFF Executive Director Steve Schroeder. "From established directors such as Guy Maddin to first-time feature filmmakers Andrew Cividino and Stephen Dunn, the talent in this country is truly amazing."

"We're thrilled to be bringing back some of the most loved films from the 2015 festival, such as the audience-favourite documentary about Omar Khadr GUANTANAMO'S CHILD and the heart-wrenching SLEEPING GIANT." 

The features included in the Calgary lineup, seven of which screened at CIFF 2015, include:

MY INTERNSHIP IN CANADA (Dir. Philippe Falardeau) *Winner of the Canada's Top Ten Film Festival People's Choice Award (Toronto) 
OUR LOVED ONES (LES ÊTRES CHERS) Dir. Anne Émond (Calgary premiere)
GUANTANAMO'S CHILD (Dir. Patrick Reed, Michelle Shephard) *Winner of the Audience Award for Best Documentary Feature at CIFF 2015
INTO THE FOREST (Dir. Patricia Rozema) 
THE DEMONS (LES DÉMONS) Dir. Philippe Lesage (Calgary premiere)
THE FORBIDDEN ROOM (Dir. Guy Maddin, Evan Johnson) 
CLOSET MONSTER (Dir. Stephen Dunn) 
THE NINTH FLOOR (Dir. Mina Shum) 


The festival also includes two shorts packages – the 
Top Ten Student Shorts and the Top Ten Shorts. Three of the short films selected screened at CIFF 2015. Recently the short film BACON AND GOD'S WRATH (Dir. Sol Friedman) took home the Short Film Jury Award: Non-Fiction at the Sundance Film Festival. 

Canada's Top Ten Film Festival is selected by panellists and highlights the best in 2015 Canadian Cinema. Single tickets as well as 5-Packs to the Calgary screenings are now on sale.
