Doc Soup Calgary Presents: Sunshine Superman

Posted on March 4, 2015

The Calgary International Film Festival and the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival announced SUNSHINE SUPERMAN as the final selection in the 2014-15 Doc Soup series.

SUNSHINE SUPERMAN is a heart-racing portrait of Carl Boenish, the father of the BASE jumping movement, whose early passion for skydiving led him to ever more spectacular – and dangerous – feats of foot-launched human flight.

The April screening, presented by CIFF and Hot Docs, will take place on Wednesday April 1, 7 p.m. at Cineplex Eau Claire.

Told through a mix of Carl's 16mm archive footage, well-crafted re-enactments and state-of-the-art aerial photography, SUNSHINE SUPERMAN leaves you breathless and inspired, while never glossing over the dangerous side of Boenish's pursuit.

SUNSHINE SUPERMAN is the final film in the 2014-15 Doc Soup series. The 2015-16 series will kick off in November 2015.
