The Calgary International Film Festival presents the Best of the Fest for students!

The 2007 Youth Film Series Best of the Fest is a selection of films specifically chosen for the school audience. Taken from the CIFF program, these films focus on cultural diversity, artistic excellence, socio-political issues and emotional intelligence.

This year’s program is designed for students in grades 4 through 12.

  • War / Dance — (recommended for grades 5 and up) — An uplifting story of three Ugandan children affected by war, who rise above adversity and compete in the finals of a national dance and music competition.

  • Letters from Litein — (recommended for grades 4 and up) — After becoming pen pals with children in an African orphanage, elementary school students, teachers and parents from Calgary travel to Kenya where they learn just how challenging development assistance can be.

  • Short Break Two — Recommended for grades 4 and up — A selection of award-winning shorts from around the world, chosen to entertain, educate and enlighten (ideal for aspiring film students)

Films will be screened during the week of Monday, Sept. 24th through Friday, Sept. 28th, with both morning and afternoon screenings taking place.

General Admission prices are $5 per student per screening (negotiable under certain circumstances). There is no charge for teachers and parent volunteers.

All theatre screenings will take place at the Glenbow Museum Theatre located at - 130 9th Avenue SE.
