Kickstarter, the world's largest funding platform for creative projects, has officially launched in Canada. While we’ve all heard the hype and the high profile successes, over $160 million has been pledged to over 11,000 successfully-funded film and video projects, and filmmakers and other artists at all levels are truly doing amazing things with this new model. CIFF 2013 has a wealth of Kickstarter fed product (Bending Steel, Furever, Feeding Mr. Baldwin), and new programs like InvestYYC emphasize crowdfunding locally. Co-presented by the Calgary Underground Film Festival, join Elisabeth Holm for Kickstarter School, and get the facts and fiction straight from the source. Elisabeth will present an overview of Kickstarter's history and model as a funding platform for creative projects and a community-building tool for artists, including tips, strategies, case studies on what makes a successful campaign and how to use Kickstarter as a tool to grow and engage your audience.

The Industry Series is made possible with the generous support of the RBC Emerging Artists Project.
