The Woman Who Loves Giraffes

Year 2018
Runtime 80 mins
Language English

Subject Anne Dagg, director Alison Reid, and producer Paul Zimic will be in attendance for a post-screening Q&A on September 22 and 23.

In 1956, Anne Innis Dagg’s passion for giraffes led her to their South African habitat. Long before Jane Goodall, Dagg’s trailblazing research shaped all knowledge on that species for decades to follow. The sexual discrimination she faced upon returning to Canada held back her career and potentially threatened a species she dearly loves. Now in her 80’s, Anne returns to Africa and visits the few remaining descendants of these elegant, gentle creatures.

Vibrant, thoughtful and articulate, she shares the incredible story of her life, with chapters left to write, gloriously enhanced through archival film and letters to her loved ones.
